How is the H3N2 virus spreading havoc?
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)
has issued a warning regarding the rapid spread of adenovirus, including liver
cancer and scarlet fever in India. Influenza A subtype H3N2 is currently
spreading rapidly in the country and has become a major cause of sickness among
people.
ICMR stated that 50% of patients undergoing
treatment in hospitals were infected with this virus. Moreover, 92% of those
infected with the virus have a fever, 86% have a cough, 27% have difficulty
breathing, and 16% have chest tightness. About 16% of those infected experienced
symptoms of pneumonia, and 6% had asthma attacks.
Symptoms of H3N2 include cough, nausea,
vomiting, sore throat, fever, and body ache, and fever can last for up to three
days while coughing may persist for three weeks. Medical authorities in India
recommend that people suffering from this virus do not need antibiotics.
Instead, they should be treated with basic care as the use of antibiotics can
lead to resistance.
Medical officials in
India have advised that elderly people, children, and pregnant women are more
susceptible to this virus, so they should take special precautions when leaving
the house. People who experience symptoms of the virus should immediately consult
a doctor and take the necessary medical treatment.
